Bangin’!
Christians who use the old testament to support their claim against gay marriage can’t call themselves followers of Christ.
But God found fault with the people and said“The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.
By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear. [Hebrews 8:8-9; 13]
When Christ died [which= ROOT of Christianity], He established a new covenant [the promise of forgiveness from sin] and a new law [love God, love others]. He has made the first one obsolete. Yet so many Christians still use the love of Jesus as a weapon, still spout off verses from the Old Testament and use that to belittle, judge, and hurt people who God cares deeply for.
If we as a nation aren’t going to allow homosexuals to get married, then we also need to make sure cheaters, liars, gossipers, and people who wear poly-cotton blends [Deut. 22:11] aren’t allowed to get married.
I always feel its sad when Jesus’ message of love, redemption, and salvation are buried under the “Well I am, so that’s all that matters, now here’s a list of things YOU have done wrong” attitudes that seem to be most publicised. There is so much hatred going around which really saddens me and makes me feel ashamed to be bundled in with them. Homophobia is not big, and its not clever, neither is referencing God’s word to express your dislike of someone.
Basically, I support Cara’s post.](http://1.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kuhug1m6VX1qznoato1_500.jpg)
